I
worked with
Robert Turner as a vet in the 1960's. The surgery was located
on the Pacific Highway in Pymble, Sydney.
Robert Turner was
also a very active Alderman and he worked for years on establishing a
riding trail from Sydney to Cairns.
Very
few people have actually completed the entire journey on horseback. As
the trail meanders through properties and forests where there is no car
access, supplies have to be taken along on pack animals. The only time
you have to travel on the road is to ford the major river crossings via
bridges established on the highways. The entire journey takes about six
months.
